Fireproofing, textiles (warp-sizing and loading cotton goods, weighting silk, dyeing and calico printing), mineral waters, catalyst carrier, ceramics, fertilizer, paper (sizing), cosmetic lotions, dietary supplement, a source of magnesium in the growing of yeast, a source of magnesium in animal feeds, correcting magnesium deficiency in soils, a cathartic and as a constituent of laxative formulations, a process chemical in the manufacture of soap, in rayon spinning baths to aid viscose coagulation, for softening the colour in sole leather finishing processes and as a weighting agent, a process chemical in the production of magnesium oxy-chloride cement compositions and in certain magnesite bricks, tiles and refractories.
